HANDWARA :In a major success, security forces busted a terrorist hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition during a joint search operation in NagdaNar forest area of Handwara on Tuesday.
Acting on specific input, a joint team of Handwara Police, 21 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 Battalion CRPF launched a search operation in the forest area.
During searches, the joint party detected an old hideout and destroyed it. A huge quantity of arms, ammunition and incriminating material was recovered from the hideout.
The recovery includes 01 AK-47 rifle, 03 grenades, 857 rounds of AK, 192 rounds of PIKA, 08 AK magazines, 01 silencer, 83 pistol rounds and other incriminating material, officials said.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 252/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been taken up.
