JAMMU :Northern Railway's Jammu Division has launched a special cleanliness drive to ensure pure and bacteria-free drinking water for passengers and railway employees across the division.
According to the Jammu Division , deep cleaning and sanitization of water tanks is being carried out on war-footing at all railway stations, railway colonies, pump houses and coaching depots falling under Jammu Division.
Officials said the Jammu Division, which was formed in 2025, has been consistently checking water quality since its inception.
Taking this process forward, during the current special campaign so far, as many as *527 Residual Chlorination tests, 46 Bacteriological tests and 46 Aqua Vial and Chemical tests* have been conducted on water samples. All samples have been found completely safe and satisfactory, officials said.
Strict measures are also being taken to protect water sources from external pollution. The administration is ensuring that all underground and overhead water tanks are completely sealed and covered.
In addition, to fully secure open water sources, strong iron netting is being installed over them so that dust or any external element cannot contaminate the water.
Through this campaign, Jammu Division is keeping a close watch on safety of water storage, cleanliness and regular monitoring, so that only pure drinking water reaches every passenger, the release said.
