Fireman in Udhampur Held by CBI for Taking Rs 15,000 Bribe for Fire NOC

UDHAMPUR :

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Fireman posted in the office of Assistant Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Udhampur for allegedly taking bribe to issue a Fire NOC.

As per officials, the accused was posted in Udhampur and was demanding Rs 40,000 from a hotel owner in Katra for processing his Fire and Emergency Services No Objection Certificate (NOC).

The complainant approached the CBI after the demand. A case was registered on October 6. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept Rs 15,000 as first installment of the bribe amount.

Acting on the complaint, CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting Rs 15,000 from the complainant today.

The accused is in custody and further investigation is going on, CBI said.
