Katra Police Crack Charan Paduka Temple Cash Theft Case, 3 Held, Stolen Cash Recovered

 Reasi Police have solved the cash theft case reported from Charan Paduka Temple at Banganga with the arrest of three accused and recovery of the stolen cash.

Police said a complaint was lodged on September 29, 2026 by Janak Singh son of Sobha Ram resident of Purana Daroor, Katra regarding theft of cash from the cash room of Charan Paduka Temple, Banganga. Accordingly, FIR No. 309/2026 under Sections 3(5)/61(2)/305/331(4) BNS was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation was set into motion.

During investigation, police worked on multiple leads and utilized technical surveillance, CCTV footage and examination of witnesses to identify those involved. The sustained investigation led to the arrest of the main accused identified as Lakhvinder Singh son of Dhanetar Singh resident of Nakki Majalta, Udhampur.

On his disclosure, two more persons - Pujari Surjeet Kumar son of Jaipal Sharma resident of Dasanu, Reasi and pony operator Krishan Lal son of Vijay Ram resident of Ponsali Salal, Reasi were also arrested.

Acting on the disclosures and leads developed during investigation, the stolen cash was recovered from Banganga area, police said.

The successful detection of the case highlights professional investigation, technical surveillance and coordinated efforts of police in safeguarding places of religious importance and bringing offenders to justice.

Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and ascertain the role of all persons involved.
