JAMMU : Heavy rain has been lashing Jammu city and adjoining areas since this morning, bringing down the mercury and causing waterlogging in low-lying areas.
As per authentic weather data, Jammu is currently witnessing *misty conditions with temperature around 21°C, humidity 92% and SSE winds at 14 km/h gusting up to 29 km/h*. 287b
The hourly forecast for today shows *drizzle in the morning, followed by scattered thunderstorms around 11:30 AM with 50% rain chance and thunderstorms around 12:30 PM with 73% rain chance*. The day temperature is expected to stay between 21°C to 28°C with 70% rain probability and 1.26 mm rainfall. 287b
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), *rainfall is likely across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh today* including thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. The IMD had earlier forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall for J&K on Oct 9 and isolated to scattered rainfall on Oct 10-11 with warnings for thunderstorms and squall. 6b81
The Met Centre Srinagar has advised residents, motorists and travellers to remain alert during thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially between Ramban-Banihal stretch where shooting stones are apprehended.
