JAMMU : Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has informed that from 1600 hrs on Oct 09 to 1600 hrs on Oct 10, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, undulating and uneven surface of road at Dawal, Udhampur as well as single-lane stretch between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to breakdown of 03 vehicles between Marog and Kishtwari Pather and movement of 09 nomadic herds crossing Banihal-Nachlana.
Owing to ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwari Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Traffic was managed in regulated manner at Dawal, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane of about 30-40 Mtrs.
Passengers and LMV operators have been advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime and avoid night travel due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads from valley as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.
In view of widening work being undertaken by NHAI on Digdol-Khooni Nalla axis, movement of Kashmir bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted during daytime between 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs as movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through tunnels. Movement of up tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs upto 0500 hrs.
Goods carriers carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued from time to time. HMV operators are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel and check fitness of vehicles before journey. Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone area.
*TRAFFIC PLAN FOR 11-10-2026:*
*Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44):* Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs (Goods carrier) shall be allowed from both sides viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
*SFs Convoy:* Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides after confirming status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
*Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244:* As per SDM Chatroo and SDM Kokernag orders dated 09-07-2026, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides after green signal from NHIDCL. Vehicles allowed from PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle after cut off timing.
*SSG Road:* As per DIVCOM Kashmir order dated 14-05-2026, LMVs shall be allowed from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. Vehicles allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar upto 1300 hrs after green signal. HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, no vehicle after 1700 hrs. Motorists advised to carry anti-skid chain.
*Mughal Road (NH-701A):* Subject to fair weather and clearance from GREF, LMVs followed by HMVs upto ten tyres only shall be allowed from both sides i.e. Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. Vehicles allowed from Chandimarh (Bafliaz) towards Shopian and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs as per DM Shopian order dated 03-07-2026.
