JAMMU :Jammu Police achieved a major success when Police Station Bishnah apprehended two persons and recovered heroin-like substance, pistol, cash and other incriminating articles during naka checking.
During routine naka checking and traffic challaning within the jurisdiction of PS Bishnah, a vehicle bearing registration No. DL-10CS-3362 was intercepted after suspicious circumstances were noticed.
During search of the vehicle, police recovered *22 grams of heroin-like substance, one pistol, cash amounting to Rs 1,48,800, one electronic weighing machine and two mobile phones* from the dashboard of the vehicle.
The apprehended persons have been identified as:
*1. Sonu Kumar S/o Uttam Chand R/o Chak Murar*
*2. Anmol Arora S/o Pankaj Arora R/o Salama Bas, Amritsar*
Upon questioning, both failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding possession of recovered cash, suspected contraband, weapon and other articles.
Accordingly, *FIR No. 189/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 of NDPS Act and Section 3/25 of Arms Act* has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation taken up.
Jammu Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the suspected contraband, origin of recovered cash and weapon, and possible backward and forward linkages of the accused with other persons involved in illegal drug trafficking.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the menace of drug trafficking and achieving the vision of a Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir and urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information regarding drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
