KATHUA: Four CISF personnel were killed in an alleged fratricide incident at Sewa Project in Mashka area of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.
As per officials, the incident took place after an altercation erupted among CISF personnel deployed at the project site.
Those killed have been identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub Inspector Lakshman Singh and constables Rafiq Ahmed and Sandeep Kumar. All four succumbed to their injuries after being shifted to NHPC Hospital in Himachal Pradesh.
The accused CISF jawan, identified as Abhidesh Singh, allegedly used an AK-47 rifle to fire upon his colleagues. He was arrested after the incident.
Police reached the spot and secured the area. Further investigation into the circumstances leading to the firing is underway.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua Mohita Sharma confirmed the incident.
