JAMMU : Traffic Police Headquarters J&K has said that very slow traffic movement was observed on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) from 1600 hrs on October 12 to 1600 hrs on October 13 due to single lane, undulating and uneven surface at Dawal, Udhampur and single-lane stretch between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.
Officials said the slow movement was further aggravated due to breakdown of 03 vehicles between Marog and Ramsoo and movement of 25 nomadic herds crossing Banihal-Nachlana. Traffic was managed in a regulated manner at Dawal, Udhampur where single lane is about 30-40 meters.
Traffic police said that owing to ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwari Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters have been advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passengers and LMV operators have been advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime and avoid night travel due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads from valley and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.
