JAMMU :In view of the Navratra festival commencing from October 11, the Traffic Police City Jammu has issued a detailed traffic advisory to regulate vehicular movement towards the historic Bawe Wali Mata Temple at Bahu Fort and ensure smooth movement of devotees during the festival period from October 11 to 19, 2026.
The advisory, issued by Amit Bhasin, JKPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Jammu, has urged devotees and the general public visiting Kali Mata Mandir at Bahu Fort to strictly follow the prescribed traffic arrangements to minimise congestion and avoid inconvenience.
According to the advisory, one-way vehicular movement towards the Bawe Temple will remain in force throughout the Navratra festival. The Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu Crossing will serve as the diversion point, from where all light motor vehicles (LMVs) and passenger service vehicles (PSVs) proceeding towards Bahu Fort will be diverted through Qasim Nagar–Raika Forest Check Post on the NHW towards the Bawe Temple.
The Traffic Police has further ordered that no heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will be permitted to enter from the Raika Forest Check Post on the National Highway towards Bagh-e-Bahu/Bahu Fort area during the Navratra days.
The devotees and motorists have been advised to follow the one-way route strictly so that the road remains free for the movement of vehicles carrying devotees and unnecessary congestion is avoided.
The advisory also makes it clear that devotees and members of the general public must park their vehicles only at designated parking locations and not on either side of the road. Any vehicle found wrongly parked on the notified road stretch will be towed away and action will be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act.
The Traffic Police has identified four designated parking areas for devotees visiting Bawe Wali Mata Temple. These include the new JDA parking near Bawe Temple, main paid parking slot in front of Bawe Temple, ground of Government Higher Secondary School, Bagh-e-Bahu, and railway parking slot near Bagh-e-Bahu.
The general public and motorists have been requested to cooperate with the Traffic Police and avoid unnecessary movement on the routes covered by the advisory during the religious programme.
The Traffic Police has also issued instructions for devotees visiting other prominent temples in Jammu city during Navratra. Devotees visiting Shree Raghunath Ji Temple, Shree Ranbireshwar Temple and Kandoli Mata Nagrota have been advised to park their vehicles only at designated parking slots near the respective temples and not on the roads.
The advisory has been issued to ensure hassle-free movement of devotees and prevent traffic bottlenecks during the festival, when a large number of people are expected to visit temples across Jammu.
For traffic-related assistance, the public can contact TCU Jammu at 0191-2459048, the Traffic Police WhatsApp number 94191-47732, or the toll-free number 103.
