JAMMU : Traffic Police Headquarters J&K on Tuesday said very slow traffic movement was observed on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) from 1600 hrs on Oct 13 to 1600 hrs on Oct 14 due to single lane, undulating and uneven surface at Dawal, Udhampur and single-lane stretch between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.
The slow movement was further compounded by breakdown of 06 vehicles between Marog and Nachlana and movement of 08 nomadic herds crossing Banihal-Nachlana. Traffic was managed in regulated manner at Dawal where single lane is about 30-40 meters.
Officials said owing to ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwari Pather is likely to slow down and commuters have been advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passengers/LMV operators have been advised to prefer journey during daytime and avoid night travel due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.
In view of widening work by NHAI on Digdol-Khooni Nalla axis, movement of Kashmir bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted during daytime between 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs as movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through tunnels. As such, movement of up tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs up to 0500 hrs.
