GREATER NOIDA :At least nine people were killed after a sleeper bus caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, police said.
The incident took place in the Jewar police station area when the bus, carrying around 40 to 50 passengers, suddenly went up in flames while moving.
Panic gripped the bus as flames spread rapidly. Several passengers jumped off the moving bus to save their lives, eyewitnesses said.
According to Noida Police, nine passengers died in the blaze, while others sustained injuries and managed to escape.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Police and fire services reached the spot and rescue operation was carried out.
Identification of the deceased is underway and further details are awaited.
