BARAMULLA : Jammu and Kashmir Police has attached a double-storeyed residential house in Baramulla for being used to facilitate terrorist activities.
The property belongs to accused Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Late Mohammad Sultan Ganie R/o Namblan Sheeri, Baramulla and is located on land under Khasra No 423 min at village Namblan, Sheeri.
According to Order No 2695 of 2026 issued by Director General of Police J&K, Nalin Prabhat on September 22, prior approval under Section 25 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 has been accorded for attachment of the house in FIR No 37/26 of Police Station Sheeri.
As per the order, on August 1, 2026, a joint naka was established by Police Baramulla, 46 RR, 53 CRPF and 112 BSF at Zandfarn, Goriwan crossing, Sheeri. During checking, the accused who was coming on foot from Namblan Goriwan towards Sheeri tried to flee but was apprehended.
During search, police recovered 01 pistol along with magazine, 10 live rounds of 9mm, 01 Redmi 14C mobile phone and 02 Airtel SIM cards from his possession. Accordingly FIR No 37/26 u/s 7/25 Arms Act was registered and investigation was taken up.
During further investigation, it came to fore that the accused had received the arms/ammunition viz. 01 pistol with magazine, 10 live rounds and 02 hand grenades from terrorists in August 2024 in Namblan forests. On directions of terrorists, he was carrying the arms to execute terror act upon police and non-locals in Sheeri, Baramulla.
During searches at his house, 02 hand grenades were recovered. Investigation revealed that he had provided shelter and logistic support to terrorists in his double-storeyed house in 2024 and used the same for facilitating terrorist activities.
Accordingly Sections 13,18,19,20,23,38 and 39 of UAPA were invoked in the case.
The order states that the evidence collected by the Investigating Officer has prima facie established that the accused had used his residential house for furtherance of terrorist activities and the same falls within the ambit of "proceeds of terrorism" under Section 2 (1)(g)(ii) of UAPA and is liable to be attached.
