RAMBAN : One woman passenger was killed and at least 38 other passengers sustained injuries after a passenger bus met with an accident near Sita Ram Passi at Kela Morh in Ramban district on Saturday.
Officials said the bus was on way from Srinagar to Ramban when it met with accident at Kela Morh stretch on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The stretch is known as a slide-prone and accident prone zone.
Soon after the mishap, police, army and locals rushed to the spot and launched rescue operation. All injured were shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment.
One woman passenger succumbed to her injuries while 30 others are undergoing treatment, officials said, adding condition of few injured is stated to be serious.
The deceased is yet to be identified.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and started investigation. Traffic movement on highway was briefly disrupted due to the accident.
