JAMMU :

Traffic Police Headquarters J&K has said that very slow movement of traffic was observed on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) during the last 24 hours due to single lane and uneven road surface at Dawal, Udhampur and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.

According to the traffic police, the slow movement was also caused due to breakdown of 3 vehicles between Ramban and Banihal and movement of 10 nomadic herds crossing Banihal-Nachlana. Traffic was managed in a regulated manner at Dawal, where the road is single lane for about 30-40 meters.

Commuters have been advised to follow lane discipline, avoid overtaking and prefer daytime journey on the highway. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones, landslides, movement of nomads and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.

In view of widening work by NHAI on Digdol-Khooni Nalla axis, movement of Kashmir-bound oil and gas tankers shall remain restricted during daytime between 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs. Movement of up tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs up to 0500 hrs.
