JAMMU : Traffic Police Headquarters J&K on Tuesday issued traffic advisory for Oct 1, 2026, stating that Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain open for both-way traffic, subject to fair weather and better road condition.
As per traffic police, from 29-09-2026, 1600 hrs to 30-09-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane and uneven road surface at Dawal, Udhampur and Marog to Kishtwari Pather stretch. The slow movement was also caused by breakdown of 3 vehicles between Ramban-Banihal and movement of 6 nomadic herds.
Passengers and LMV operators have been advised to prefer journey during daytime and avoid night travel due to apprehension of shooting stones, landslides, movement of nomads and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.
*Traffic Plan For 01-10-2026:*
*1. Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44):*
LMVs, passenger vehicles, private cars and HMVs (goods carriers) shall be allowed from both sides - Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters have been asked to follow lane discipline.
*2. Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag (NH-244):*
LMVs/Private cars shall be allowed from both sides. Cut-off timing from PP Parana towards Anantnag is 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs and from Daksum towards Kishtwar is 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs.
*3. SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari):*
LMVs allowed from both sides - Sonamarg towards Kargil and Minamarg towards Srinagar upto 1300 hrs. HMVs allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs to 1700 hrs only. No vehicle after 1700 hrs. Anti-skid chains advised.
*4. Mughal Road (NH-701A):*
Subject to fair weather, LMVs followed by HMVs upto ten tyres shall be allowed from both sides. Timing from Chandimarh (Baffliaz) towards Shopian and Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch is 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs.
People have been advised to confirm road status from Traffic Control Units before travel.
