Samba:In a proactive initiative aimed at further strengthening border security, surveillance mechanisms and operational preparedness, Samba Police conducted a comprehensive mock drill at Border Police Post (BPP) Mawa.
The exercise was designed to test the effectiveness of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed in the event of a fidayeen/armed attack. The excercise was headed by Addl.SP Samba accompanied by DySP SOG Samba and Incharge BPP Mawa.
During the mock drill, the participating personnel were briefed about:
1.Their respective roles in the event of an emergency including duties of the sentry deployed at the Border Police Post, his line of action upon detection of any suspicious movement or attack and the role of the LMG post/sentry.
2.Timely activation of the alarm system.
3.Technical monitoring of the entire operation by dedicated police personnel.
4.Immediate passing of information to SOG Samba, PCR Samba, PCR Jammu and adjoining districts, enabling them to alert their respective nakas, activate available resources.
5.Safe and coordinated movement after ensuring view clearance, move forward in buddy pairs alongwith wireless communication set.
At the conclusion of the exercise, a detailed debriefing session was conducted.
On the directions of Senior Officers, Samba Police also displayed the contact number of PCR Samba at water pump sheds located in agricultural fields of the villages of BPP Mawa. The initiative is aimed at facilitating easy access to the police by farmers, residents and other members of the public so that they can promptly share information regarding any suspicious movement, activity or unidentified persons noticed in their vicinity.
Similar, exercise is also being carried out in the villages of other Border Police Posts.
SSP Samba reiterated that public cooperation is a vital component of an effective security mechanism, particularly in border areas. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and immediately communicate any suspicious activity to the police, thereby enabling timely verification and necessary preventive action.
