SRINAGAR :
Putting all rumours of a split in the National Conference (NC) to rest, NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday dismissed reports of a split in the party as completely baseless after a high-level meeting with disgruntled NC legislators at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's Srinagar residence.
Speaking to reporters after meeting disgruntled legislators at the residence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah said the news going around that the National Conference has broken is wrong.
He said, *"The National Conference is an organised party, it has never been broken and it can never be broken. Those who think this are mistaken."*
Dr Abdullah said they sat together, talked, and considered the legislators' issues very seriously. He said everyone was heard.
He said *some steps will be taken quickly and some steps will be taken slowly*, and the government will be strengthened so that the difficulties of the people are removed.
He added that along with this, *the fight to get back statehood will continue, and the fight for Article 370 and Article 35-A will also continue.*
Speaking on the occasion, NC leader *Nazir Gurezi* said every time they come to the party leadership with their issues.
He said a few days ago they sat together at one place, and from there social media hyped it up that a separate party has come out of the National Conference.

Gurezi said there were some issues which they brought before the Chief Minister and honourable Farooq Sahab, and they have given assurance.
He said whether it is a political issue or other issues, some issues will be done immediately, and work will be done on some other issues.
The meeting is being seen as a damage control exercise by the NC leadership after reports on social media suggested that a group of NC legislators were unhappy and planning to float a new party. With today's joint assurance by Farooq Abdullah and Nazir Gurezi, the party has tried to project a united face.
