NEW DELHI:Air India and its low-cost arm Air India Express have announced temporary suspension of flight operations to and from Saudi Arabia till November 14.
As per the airlines, flights to three major Saudi cities — *Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam* — will remain suspended till November 14 in view of the prevailing security situation in the region.
*Relief Measures For Passengers:*
To ease inconvenience for affected travelers, both carriers have announced special relief measures:
- One-time free rescheduling option
- Full refund on cancellation
The facility is available for passengers having confirmed tickets issued on or before October 30, 2026 for travel up to November 14. Such passengers can rebook their journey for travel up to *November 29, 2026*, subject to availability of seats.
Air India said its passengers can rebook to or from any operational Air India destination in Saudi Arabia, while Air India Express passengers can rebook to or from any operational Air India Express station in Saudi Arabia or Bahrain.
Passengers have been advised to contact the customer service teams, visit city booking offices or call the airlines' call centres through details available on official websites for rebooking and refund.
*Reason For Suspension:*
The decision comes amid reports of continued attacks on civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including airports at Riyadh and Dammam. Earlier, one Indian national was killed and two others injured in an attack at Dammam airport, while another Indian was injured in an attack on Shaybah oil field.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had earlier stated that Indian Embassy and Consulate in Saudi Arabia are in touch with airlines and tour operators to facilitate return of stranded Indian pilgrims.
As per official information, hundreds of stranded Umrah pilgrims have returned to India from Saudi Arabia in the past one month, while over 10,000 Umrah pilgrims have also travelled back normally.
